Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Domestic Gas Engineer to carry out the installation, maintenance, and repair of domestic heating systems, ensuring all work aligns with the highest standards outlined in our operational specifications. The role includes working on properties undergoing modernisation, maintenance replacements, and new build installations.
Key Responsibilities
* System Installations:
o Install gas-fired combination boilers, ensuring compliance with Part L1 of Building Regulations and a minimum SEDBUK efficiency rating of 90%.
o Replace back boiler units, warm air systems, and gas-fired wall heaters with new systems as specified.
o Perform pipework installations using BS 2871 Part 1 Table X T copper pipe.
o Perform electrical wiring and control setup for Y-plan and S-plan heating systems, including fault-finding, upgrades, and commissioning.
* Maintenance and Repairs:
o Conduct gas safety testing before and after works, adhering to BS 6891 and relevant gas regulations.
o Perform boiler servicing, including flue gas analysis, range rating, and testing all safety devices.
o Replace defective components such as radiators, thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), and circulatory pumps.
* System Commissioning:
o Commission heating systems per manufacturers' guidelines, including setting controls and completing CP1 certificates.
o Conduct system flushing and chemical cleansing using Fernox/Sentinel inhibitors and testing for compliance.
* Safety and Compliance:
o Ensure full adherence to Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, IET Wiring Regulations, and Building Regulations.
o Test all gas appliances, documenting results on CP1 forms.
o Provide clear operational instructions and maintenance guidance to tenants.
o Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing tenant concerns professionally.
o Accurately document all work completed, materials used, and system performance.
o Collaborate with team members and supervisors to report progress and recommend additional works when necessary.
o Adhere to health and safety standards, maintaining a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
* Gas Safe Registration (current and valid).
* Fully qualified: Gas Safe Engineer with valid ACS certifications (CCN1, CENWAT, CPA1).
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Domestic Gas Installation and Maintenance.
* CSCS Card (in date).
* Certification in:
o Asbestos Awareness
o Working at Heights
o Face Fit Testing
* Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
* Comprehensive toolkit for domestic heating system installations.
* Strong understanding of heat loss calculations, U-value assessments, and room-by-room heating design.
Key Skills and Experience
* Proven experience installing and maintaining gas-fired heating systems, including sealed and combination systems.
* Experience in installing and maintaining combination boilers, Y-plan, and S-plan heating systems.
* Proficiency in working with manufacturers such as Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, and Baxi.
* Knowledge of BS standards for pipelines, cisterns, flues, and heating controls.
* Ability to carry out pipework insulation, radiator sizing, and compliance testing to BS 7593 and BS 5449 standards.
* Strong attention to detail, especially for commissioning documentation and CP1 certificates.

Working Hours:
