About The Role
Would you like to work as a Performance and Data Team Manager in a council that has recently been rated as “outstanding” and “good” from the 2023 Ofsted inspections?
We are recruiting to a permanent Performance and Data Team Manager to work with Children’s Social Care and Early Help and the Supporting Families team.
You will be managing a well-respected team of performance and information analysts who are dedicated to making data easy to access and use for performance monitoring and decision making. The Performance and Data Team Manager is expected to work with senior managers at all levels to ensure that performance management and data is embedded across operational teams and that robust evidence-based data is at the heart of service provision.
This role would be an ideal opportunity for a person who has:
* Extensive experience of working in children’s social care and early help, including a sound understanding of requirements for statutory returns and Ofsted inspections.
* Expert knowledge of reporting tools and visualisation software to extract and manipulate data and make data easy to use and interpret. For example, Business Objects, SQL and Power BI.
* A passion for data with expert communication skills to translate data to insight for operational and leadership audiences at all levels.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build purposeful relationships across organisation boundaries along with the confidence to challenge services and drive sustainable improvement.
* Strong self-motivation and an ability to identify and encourage innovative solutions to problems.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
* You will manage the Children’s Performance and Data Team and be responsible for the collection, collation, analysis and interpretation of statistics and information on social care services provided by the council and partners to inform and support the development and provision of quality services, assist planning and performance management, and to respond to government initiatives and undertake statutory data returns.
* You will have expertise in a range of reporting tools and systems for collecting, monitoring, presenting and disseminating information within the directorate, partners and the public.
* You will line manage a team consisting of senior management information officers, management information officers and analysts.
About You

* You will have experience of working in an information management role, ideally within a Children’s Services or similar setting, which involves statutory returns and reporting on performance indicators.
* Work positively with colleagues in the team and across the organisation to build effective partnership working and ensure consistent good practice.
* You will at all times respect confidentiality of sensitive personal information and the dignity of others.
* Experience of staff management.
* Good numeracy skills and the ability to extract, analyse and interpret highly complex data and to present that to a variety of audiences in an easily understandable manner.
* You communicate effectively with a range of audiences and colleagues of all levels of seniority.
Qualifications:
* Relevant qualification up to or equivalent to a degree, ideally in a numerate discipline, or sufficient relevant experience in a similar type of role.
* You will have a background in one or more of these roles: data analysis, research or performance.
