We have a vacancy for a 0.9 FTE band 6 physiotherapist to take a senior role in the neuromuscular team. The Dubowitz Neuromuscular Service is the largest paediatric neuromuscular service in the country taking children from all over the UK and abroad for diagnosis and ongoing assessment and management. The work is mainly clinic-based but children can be seen on the wards when admitted for specialist treatments, with respiratory problems, for orthopaedic surgery, and for hydrotherapy and rehabilitation. While we are part of neurosciences, there is an emphasis on musculoskeletal problems, with contracture management, splinting, and orthotics being important adjuncts to our work.
Main duties of the job
The team currently comprises of a band 8, one full-time and three part-time band 7s, one rotational and one non-rotational (this post) band 6, and band 4 physiotherapists. We are part of the wider physiotherapy department and neuromuscular teams. Within neuromuscular, there is a major emphasis on teaching and research with 4 research physiotherapists with whom we work closely. We frequently take undergraduate and postgraduate students and visiting therapists from the UK and abroad. There are many opportunities to teach and attend conferences in neuromuscular and related fields.
