We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Estimating Manager to be involved in an industry-leading, cutting-edge project for a new type of power station.

Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead the cost estimation efforts for our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology product offerings. The Estimating Manager will be responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing the costing models for the SMR technology, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing strategies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Costing Strategy Development:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive cost estimation strategies for Rolls-Royce SMR products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market competitiveness.
2. Define and manage the cost structure for the technology provider’s product offerings, including equipment, systems, and associated services.
2. Cost Model Management:
1. Build, maintain, and refine detailed cost models for SMR technology products, accounting for manufacturing, assembly, procurement, logistics, and operational costs.
2. Collaborate with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and finance teams to gather accurate data and assumptions to inform cost models.
3. Ensure that cost models are adaptable to various project scenarios and capable of supporting decision-making throughout the product lifecycle.
3. Pricing and Commercial Support:
1. Provide cost input and analysis to support pricing decisions, bids, and proposals for SMR projects.
2. Work closely with the commercial team to evaluate the cost impact of different business strategies, including make-or-buy decisions, supplier selection, and design changes.
4. Risk Management:
1. Identify and assess cost risks associated with the SMR technology and develop mitigation strategies.
2. Conduct sensitivity analyses to understand the impact of various risk factors on overall product costing.
5. Process Improvement:
1. Continuously improve costing processes and tools, incorporating best practices and lessons learned from previous projects.
2. Lead initiatives to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and transparency of cost estimation methods across the SMR program.
6. Team Leadership:
1. Lead and mentor a team of cost estimators, ensuring high standards of performance and professional development.
2. Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture within the estimation team, promoting innovation and continuous improvement.
7. Stakeholder Communication:
1. Present cost estimates and related analyses to senior management, project teams, and external stakeholders, providing clear and concise explanations of cost drivers and assumptions.
2. Act as the primary point of contact for all cost-related inquiries regarding the SMR technology.
Training & Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying or a related field.
2. Professional certifications (e.g., AACE, RICS, ACostE) or chartered status are highly desirable.
3. Experience in major Infrastructure and/or oil/gas/process industries.
4. Qualified to professional status and educated to degree status preferable.
5. Ability to take-off quantities and price work from first principles.
6. Advanced in using estimating software.
7. Creating Excel reports.
8. Cost planning knowledge and experience.
9. An understanding of construction technology, resourcing and construction methods/outputs, for civils and Process activities.

Pay and Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £57,600 - £75,600 plus:
* Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
* Benefits Allowance – £2000, enabling you to create a bespoke package
* Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
* Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
