The post holder, under the leadership of the Matron has a continuing responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of an elective Surgical ward within an Accredited Surgical Hub. He/she will ensure the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based and cost-effective service for patients and their families. Combining clinical expertise with innovative, dynamic nursing leadership the post holder will manage a designated team of ward staff in their professional and practice development, to ensure that safe and appropriate care is provided.
• Effectively lead, manage and develop a designated team of nurses. Perform appraisal, ensure team members have appropriate personal development plans with regular reviews, manage sickness and contractual changes of own team members.
• Lead in the delivery of patient and family care, and act as an expert clinical adviser to the Nursing and medical team & other hospital departments and services.
· Lead in the effective planning, delivery, evaluation and monitoring of standards of care carried out, with due regard to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and their families.
