Opportunity for a Commercial Support Officer at Warwickshire County Council within the Business and Capital Programme Team supporting Engineering Design Services
About the Team
Engineering Design Services is Warwickshire County Council’s civil engineering service. Our purpose is to provide advice, design capability, contract preparation and site supervision in the fields of highways, traffic control and information systems, bridge maintenance and bridge and structural design.
We are a key contributor to WCC’s role as Highway Authority, and we are responsible for the Council’s bridge stock and traffic signal equipment.
We provide a largely cost neutral service. Our Business and Capital Programme Team and Project and Programme Management team provide financial, quality, communications, and project management support to the group. We run an accredited Quality Management System under ISO 9001.
Our workload originates from groups within Communities and Resources, from Developers, from our neighbouring partner authorities, and from external clients. In turn we engage the expertise of colleagues within Communities and Resources and external specialist consultancies.
Engineering Design Services comprises both WCC employees and seconded consultants through the Midlands Highways Alliance (MHA+) framework. We actively support staff development and run an Institution of Civil Engineers accredited graduate training programme.

The role will be expected to respond to unexpected problems and to be able to apply initiative to solve them with the support of their manager.
The role advertised will be a mixture of remote working and in Warwick Town Centre at the County Council’s main office complex, Shire Hall.
