Seren Lodge Mother and Baby Unit, an exciting collaboration between NHS England and NHS Wales, is due to open in October 2025 on the grounds of the Countess of Chester Health Park.
Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Band 3 Clinical Support Workers to join the Mother and Baby Unit team. We are planning for the new MDT to commence in role 3 months prior to opening to enable a robust and supportive induction to take place.
The Mother and Baby Unit is a specialist provision for women with mental health problems during pregnancy and/or in the year after their baby is born. Patients in the postnatal period will have their babies with them during their time as an inpatient on the Mother and Baby Unit. Seren Lodge will be an 8 bedded unit with 6 beds commissioned by NHS England for the women of Cheshire and Merseyside and 2 beds commissioned by NHS Wales for the women of North Wales. The Mother and Baby Unit will also accept referrals for out of area women when there are beds available.
Main duties of the job
We are hoping to build a supportive and knowledgeable multi-disciplinary team, working on a rotational shift basis which includes day and night shifts. The posts offer the successful applicants the exciting opportunity to build a team that provides the highest quality of care for our service users. We will offer an excellent training programme and preceptorship programme.
The applicants must be able to demonstrate an understanding and application of the 6 C's in practice, these being Care; Compassion; Competence; Communication; Courage; and Commitment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Appropriate mental health related qualification or willingness to complete an apprenticeship appropriate to Clinical Support Worker role.
* Will work towards the appropriate mental health related NVQ level 3 once in post or equivalent experience.
* To demonstrate a range of work procedures and practices and to exhibit your knowledge and skills.
* Completion of or commitment to complete the Care Certificate (CWP in-house 2 day training to be completed within 3 months of start date).
Desirable
* Qualifications in Health and Social Care or other related disciplines.
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
* Understanding of CWP, inclusive of Mental Health Services and the key role the Trust has within the health economy.
* An understanding of confidentiality issues and how they relate to mental health policy and practice interventions.
* Knowledge of CWP observation policy (policy found on CWP website).
Desirable
* Knowledge of mental health legislation and policies.
Experience
Essential
* Experience of working collaboratively i.e with colleagues, wider teams, service users etc.
* The ability to demonstrate good quality care whilst adhering to Trust policies and procedures and working towards completing Care Certificate.
* Supporting others in a care setting, whether this is experience in a professional capacity or lived experience (friend, family, voluntary etc).
Desirable
* Previous experience of working with adults with severe mental health needs.
* Previous experience of working with women with perinatal mental health difficulties.
