Job Description The Director of Network Services supervises the network support staff and manages entire College network infrastructure. Design LAN, WAN, SAN, server, intranet, VPN and security plans for College. Creation of Acceptable Use Policies and Best Practice Procedures Develop plans for future data center Hiring and management of networking support staff Oversee server implementation and management Creation of documentation and metrics Integrated communications/ CCTV /Cable services, internet circuits, and MPLS Develop Disaster recovery plans Implement Network monitoring and Network troubleshooting procedures Implement and lifecycle Network Routers, Switches and Firewalls Manage Network authentication and permissions procedures Bandwidth planning and management and monitoring Wireless design, planning, implementation, and maintenance Server implementation and management Server Capacity Planning UPS, MGE, and battery planning, implementation, and maintenance Train staff to provide support to end users Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or Information Technology. Extensive experience (10 years) in IT may be substituted for degree At least three (3) years’ experience in technology support operations, management and or supervision required Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization In depth and complete knowledge of all aspects of network management /administrator Commitment to creating and working in a collaborative and team-building environment Excellent written and oral communication skills Network Certifications are recommended. Some common network manager/administrator certifications include those from Cisco, CWNA, Microsoft, Juniper, Novell, etc. Demonstrated project management skills Excellent communication and people skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
