The Dorset Breast Screening Unit (DBSU) as part of the University Hospital Dorset Trust screens approximately 43,000 women per year as part of the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme. The Trust also provides symptomatic services based at Poole and the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospital’s. DBSU is fully digital with eight mammography units (three being mobile), four having tomosynthesis.
We are currently looking for a Band 6 mammographer and would welcome applications from experienced mammographers and newly qualified radiographers who are passionate about breast imaging. If relevant, training will be given for the right candidate to achieve a post graduate award in mammography.
The banding would be dependent upon training required and experience (Band 6 if qualified in mammography or Band 5 at trainee level - progressing to Band 6 on qualification and completion of probation period where required and competencies).

The successful candidate will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team undertaking screening mammography to the high standard required by the NHS Breast Screening Service on mobile and static units that form the Dorset Breast Screening Unit (DBSU). They will also provide specialist imaging and high-quality service in both assessment and symptomatic breast clinics at Poole and The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals. The department is forward thinking and has always encouraged advanced practice. We currently have four substantive Consultant Radiographers and a team of advanced practitioners in various specialties who contribute to the development of the Breast Imaging Services in the Trust. We are actively involved in a wide range of research projects, both locally and nationally and have a partnership with a local University offering teaching on their Breast MSc pathway.
