IN SHORT
MK College Group have an exciting new opportunity for a creative Workplace Skills Tutor to join the team based at HMP Standford Hill, on a part-time basis.
The working pattern would be all day Tuesday/Weds/Thursday and morning only on Fridays.
As a Workplace Skills Tutor, you will be actively engaging prison-based learners with creative classes and resources. Many of the learners have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, and they will often have had a negative experience with education. As a successful Workplace Skills Tutor, you will truly inspire them and provide learners with a positive learning experience.
This role will involve supporting our current distance learning students and new learners with their communication skills, IT skills, disclosure information, creating and updating CVs that are needed to apply for work roles within Standford Hill, RoTL placements, and jobs upon release. You will be connecting with learners in a professional manner, supporting them with their learning, enabling them to achieve success through not only qualifications but also developing the confidence and softer skills that they can apply to employment as well as other areas of education.
We are seeking an individual who can communicate well with learners to inspire and motivate them. The average class consists of 10 learners, and the sessions are approximately 3 hours long. Your lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative, and imaginative.
MK College will treat all applicants fairly and with respect, irrespective of their background, disability, or any other individual characteristic. We particularly encourage applications from people with backgrounds which are currently under-represented within Milton Keynes College. All offers made to successful candidates are subject to satisfactory outcomes to a range of pre-employment checks including a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS). In addition, security clearance is required for all prison services positions up to Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) level.
