The successful applicant will join a team of dermatologists who work closely with the plastic surgery department to provide a skin cancer service at NBT. We also provide a general dermatology service and have close links with the dermatology department at Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI).
The dermatology service is a local and regional service primarily covering Bristol and South Gloucestershire populations, but we also provide an SSMDT and accept tertiary referrals for patients with complex skin cancer in the South-West. We also deliver specialist services such as Mohs’ micrographic surgery, Laser, and Vulval dermatology. The post-holder will join a team of 5 Consultant Dermatologists, 1 associate specialist, 1 Specialty Doctor, 2 specialist nurses and 6 juniors employed at the trust.

The work of the Dermatology Department includes:
* Skin Cancer Clinics and surgery
* Acute Ward Referrals
* Advice and Guidance referrals (Tele-dermatology) and photo clinics
* Remote and face to face general and suspected cancer dermatology
* MOH's surgery
* Biologic clinic for Eczema
* Complex patient clinic (commissioned by UHBW)
* Nurse-led drug monitoring and inflammatory disease clinics
* Specialist Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Meetings
* Supervision of a Dermatology trainee/cancer CNS
* Undergraduate teaching
Working for our organisation
The Dermatology Department is within the Surgical Directorate and managed together with Plastic Surgery to improve skin cancer patient pathways. Currently, the Dermatologists see approximately 7,500 new patients and 7,500 follow-ups per year. There is a dedicated area of outpatients in the Brunel building at Southmead Hospital that houses both Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, local anaesthetic skin surgery theatres, procedure rooms and a MOHs laboratory. NBT Dermatology clinics are also run at Cossham Hospital, Kingswood. The post-holder will be based at Southmead Hospital but will be asked to provide a dermatology clinic in a community setting or in another hospital location. The post-holder may be asked to work flexibly including the consideration of evening clinics and to be a part of our teledermatology service.

Person specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians. Full registration with the GMC. Name on Specialist Registrar on date of taking up appointment or to have obtained CCT within 6 months of interview date
* MD or equivalent
Training and Experience
* Wide experience in all aspects of General (internal) Medicine and Dermatology culminating in the award of CCT in Dermatology.
* Demonstrate interest in skin cancer, surgical dermatology and competent in dermatological surgery.
* Demonstrate interest in diagnosis and management of inflammatory dermatology
* Completion of courses relevant to Dermatology
* Advanced training in Skin Surgery
Research, Teaching and Publications
* Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit. Ability to design, conduct and supervise audits
* Evidence of participation in Audit and Research
* Proven Published outputs
* Experience of clinical research culminating in presentation and publication of original studies, review articles etc relevant to speciality.
* Ability to lead clinical research project
Personal Requirements
* Good communication skills. Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels
* Ability to work with colleagues in other specialties to develop local services.
* Ability to inspire, motivate and develop junior medical staff
Further training, management
* Evidence of participation in management
* Understanding of recent initiatives and changes, including Clinical Governance and Appraisal.
* Management courses and/or qualifications.
* Knowledge of the structure of Health Service.
