The Sizewell C MEHA Alliance
The Sizewell C (SzC) nuclear new build project on the Suffolk coast is the second UK Nuclear EPR facility to be constructed, following the Hinkley Point project in Somerset.
The Sizewell C MEH Alliance forms part of the Sizewell nuclear new build project. The Alliance is comprised of four leading Industry Partners and the client who between them will be responsible to help deliver the pipework installation of this critical UK infrastructure project.
The Role
The Alliance is at an early stage of the new build project and is about to embark on a significant talent acquisition campaign and as a result an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Modularisation Opportunity Engineer to join the MEH Alliance. The role will be hybrid with the requirement for travel to two Bristol offices office one to two days per week with potential travel to other business locations e.g. London UK, Dortmund Germany. The role will be recruited by one of the Alliance Partners.
The Purpose
This role will analyse the SZC Detailed Design on a room-by-room basis, within a set of criteria, to identify and record methods by which the Project can reduce the reliance of on-site pipe welding. The bulk of the work will be identifying pipework that could be prefabricated into sub-assemblies (Modules).
If the opportunity is successful, the role will then transition into technical delivery of the work scope when it is integrated into MEHA scope of delivery.
What you’ll be doing
* Timely ‘site weld transfer’ analysis, including proposals and justifications for a series of rooms governed by the overall SZC Construction Schedule.
* Work will be completed to defined and validated criteria and rules.
* Pending experience, individuals may be asked to review and/or approve the work of others.
What we are looking for
Technical
* Engineering Degree Qualified or Equivalent.
* Experience of design layout/sub-assembly to optimise manufacturing and installation of pipework.
* Proficient in the navigation and interrogation of CAD models (the current design uses Navisworks).
* Working knowledge of modern pipework construction methodologies, in a high hazard, highly regulated environment, that affect the logical installation of pipework/equipment in a construction environment.
* Adhering to the Company’s Health, Safety & Environment policies, procedures, and standards.
Personal
* Provide and demonstrate a positive HSE attitude and a strong Nuclear Safety Culture.
* Good communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines and subject matter experts.
* Maintain a high standard approach to quality with a “Right first time” goal.
* A positive ‘can do’ mentality, self-motivated and team player.
* Ability to identify blockers and deliver solutions in compliance with specifications and procedures.
Additional
* Experience of pipework installation or construction planning on other EPR or similar nuclear/oil & gas construction
* Experience of the HPC Detailed Design and Execution Design processes would be an advantage.
* Knowledge of the RCCM regulations would be an advantage.
* Awareness of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Why Join Us?
For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.
Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.
EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.
Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.
We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.
It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.
Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.
We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
