Job Description
We have a very exciting opportunity for an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join our IT function, based from our amazing offices here in Cheadle.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, passionate IT Security Engineer to work directly with the Cyber Security Manager on cyber security at all levels.
This is a hands on technical role requiring a detailed understanding of evolving threat trends and the technical ability to implement, and configure existing security toolsets, and implement new security solutions.
The Security Engineer will work closely with next generation technologies utilising machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Responsibilities:
6. Implementation, management and maintenance of security toolsets
7. Investigation of security events and incidents
8. Resolution of service requests, incidents and problems
9. Identification and remediation of vulnerabilities
10. Identification of control gaps and ensuring adherence to best practice and standards
11. Creation and maintenance of operational procedures, configuration and technical documentation
12. Management and maintenance of security metrics and reporting
13. Maintaining an awareness of new and emerging security technologies and threats
14. Ensuring continual development of technical skills through both external and internal training and certification
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
15. Strong knowledge of security technologies, including NGFW, WAF, IPS, EDR, NDR, AV, MDM, MFA, SIEM, email security, patch management, vulnerability management and vulnerability scanning
16. Good knowledge of infrastructure, cloud, virtualisation and network security
17. Experience working within a regulated environment
18. Experience following change management and similar ITIL best practice
19. Strong attention to detail
20. Demonstrable passion and enthusiasm for security, including the ability to keep current with the latest threats, technologies and trends
21. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical security issues to both non-security and non-technical stakeholders
22. The ability to work closely and collaboratively with the cyber security, IT and other teams and also independently
23. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, SSCP, Security+, CySA+, GIAC
