The Opportunity
Are you ready to take charge of a crucial role in ensuring safety and compliance within a groundbreaking nuclear power project? Join our team at Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear Power Station as a Work Authorisation & Permit to Work Manager. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in overseeing the Work Authorisation and Permit System to facilitate safe and efficient construction activities.
Contextual Information
Operating Environment
NNB Gen Co, the Principal Contractor for Hinkley Point C construction, requires meticulous management of work authorisation and permits to ensure regulatory compliance and safety. As part of the HPC Construction Team, you'll lead a dynamic team, ensuring seamless coordination of activities.
Framework & Boundaries
Working closely with the NNB Construction, Safety, and Delivery Teams, as well as Tier 1 and DMIC Contractors, you'll oversee the issuance of permits to ensure adherence to safety protocols and standards.
Principal Accountabilities
Manage day-to-day permit to work office operations, ensuring compliance with processes and standards.
Develop and maintain relationships with construction, safety, and technical teams, providing key performance data.
Contribute to the development of new procedures and standards.
Liaise with senior managers to maintain effective communication.
Ensure competency of permit acceptors and manage training programs.
Provide audit reports, identify non-conformities, and implement corrective measures.
Review and amend standards, policies, and procedures as required.
Dimensions
You'll report directly to the HPC Deputy Site Construction Director and liaise with NNB Technical Team Manager and Project Managers.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Knowledge & Skills
Essential:
Thorough understanding of UK Health and Safety regulations, particularly CDM regulations.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and proactively.
Extensive knowledge of industry best practices and legislation related to construction hazards and risks.
Desirable:
Experience with Electronic Permit to Work Systems.
Experience managing multi-discipline construction works.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar.
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
IOSH Managing Safely in Construction.
Experience in multi-discipline construction works and contractor coordination.
