New Directions Education are currently recruiting for Teaching Assistants (qualified & unqualified) to work in schools in the Conwy areas. To be considered you will need to have a background working with children or display transferable skills from previous roles – Sports Coaching, After School Clubs, Care work, Customer Service etc.
The successful candidates will be required to support the class teacher with the day to day running of the classroom and have the ability to work unsupervised with small groups.

Creating a good working relationship with a school is imperative whilst representing New Directions to ensure the best possible feedback, and to be requested for further placements. You will be assigned to a dedicated Account Manager who will support you through all the necessary steps and your ongoing career through New Directions.
For this role you will need to:
1. Have a relevant, child related qualification OR relevant experience.
2. Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
3. Hold a current DBS certificate on the update service OR be prepared to apply for a new certificate.

As a Learning Support Assistant you’ll be expected to:
4. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
5. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
6. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
7. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
8. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
