Currently recruiting for a HSE Advisor on behalf of an Offshore Wind developer to be based in a Fabrication Yard in Newcastle.
Reporting into the Project HSE Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and advising on package HSE aspects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support and advise the Package and wider project team in all relevant package HSE matters.
2. Conduct audits and inspections at contractors' fabrication, pre-assembly, and other work sites in line with the audit and inspection plan.
3. Follow up on audits and safety inspections outcomes and ensure all items are closed to BLP satisfaction.
4. Support the BLP on-site team with HSE expertise.
5. Control compliance with HSE requirements during fabrication and commissioning activities.
6. Monitor HSE performance (by inspection, audit, reviewing trends, and analyzing safety statistics).
7. Provide information for Back Office HSE Team (safety metrics for monthly reporting).
Major Tasks
1. Participation in the validation of submitted HSE documentation of contractors for conformity with BLP specifications and employers' requirements.
2. Analysis of work processes, HSE-relevant events, near misses, and accidents, and monitoring of corrective and improvement measures to prevent recurrence.
3. Creation of training and instruction material as well as implementation of training courses in the field of HSE.
4. Lead on-site safety training sessions.
5. Provide subject matter expertise.
6. Attend HIRA, DRA, HAZOP sessions, provide SME input, and attend and deliver kick-off meetings prior to work activities.
Key Deliverables
1. HSE training programs.
2. HSE plans, policies, and procedures.
3. Deliver and monitor safety programs/initiatives.
4. HSE inspection & audit reports.
5. Collate HSE statistics for reporting.
6. Investigate accidents and incidents, draft reports, and allocate follow-up measures, track follow-up measures to closure.
7. HSE lessons learned.
Qualifications
1. Capability to work on yards – appropriate certification (e.g., GWO suite) and 5+ years of relevant work experience within HSSE.
2. 3-5 years of experience from a similar position within offshore wind (or construction where the role is onshore site-based).
3. Qualified: NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ/SVQ level 6 or General Certificate.
4. Fluent in English.
