Job Description: We're currently recruiting for a field-based Product Specialist to identify, develop, and maintain customers for our market-leading range of Laboratory Reagents and Custom/Bulk chemicals and blends. Our new colleague will sell our range direct to customers as well as through top-tier distribution channels in the UK, working with their commercial teams to represent our products in the marketplace. Our customers operate in various markets and produce everything from groundbreaking scientific research to clean energy, new industrial applications, and represent leading household names in Pharmaceuticals, Food and Beverage, and Environmental testing.
The successful candidate will have the ability to establish relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and chemical customers while positioning and selling relevant products across customer applications.
What is the role?
1. Achieve or exceed sales quota and objectives, ensuring customer satisfaction by developing and implementing an effective territory business plan.
2. Provide accurate business forecasts for all products in scope.
3. Establish strong working relationships with local sales teams and lateral functions (e.g., marketing, service, support, customer service). Train/enable/support sales representatives in promoting our range of products.
4. Partner with the distributor sales teams operating in the UK that support the territory.
5. Maintain SalesForce for all visits and opportunities and develop the tool to suit business needs and enhance customer relationship management.
6. Develop knowledge of products within the portfolio and how they can solve challenges and improve results. Identify features and benefits of competitors' products and services and share insights with internal colleagues.
7. Coordinate, evaluate, attend, and support local trade shows and conferences while demonstrating flexibility to accommodate customer requirements.
8. Develop knowledge of current and potential activities that may affect revenues, including funding, market dynamics, and end-user needs.
9. Maintain contact with existing customers to promote new products, close deals, and grow sales, as well as develop new prospects.
10. Play an active role within your team by sharing leads, developing opportunities, contributing to team spirit, sharing best practices, and improving business processes.
11. Attend all required sales meetings and training sessions, implementing new skills gained.
What we are looking for:
1. Background in Chemistry either through a relevant degree or equivalent knowledge and industry/functional experience.
2. Minimum 1 year (preferably > 3 years) of professional selling experience.
3. Experience in a large matrix organization is highly appreciated.
4. Must be flexible and willing to travel between 50%-70% in their territory to implement duties.
5. Self-motivated and success-driven.
6. Must be self-directed to work independently at a highly technical level.
7. Proven problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
8. Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
9. Excellent clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
10. The preferred home location for this role is in the South of the UK.
11. Driving license required.
