The Planning Manager will form an integral part of the Operations Leadership Team. With a strong background in manufacturing practices, all planning processes, MRP control, and demand/inventory management, the candidate will lead a cross-functional and direct team responsible for achieving financial and customer expectations.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
1. Lead, maintain, and manage the next 6-month & 6-week sales plan based on Purchasing, Customer Services, and Operations input with regular reviews.
2. Implement and manage a Master Production Schedule where required.
3. Support all SIOP requirements with the extended Senior Leadership Team to support key business sales targets while appreciating cumulative lead times and limitations.
4. Level load the executable Sales plan within the MRP system with Customer Services.
5. Ensure all daily planning activities are executed within the service levels that the business needs. KPI led metrics on planner/schedulers.
6. Focus on OTD with Operations of Production Orders to drive customer OTD improvements.
7. Develop into and act as MRP “super user” for the planning department.
8. Run and develop reports to ensure MRP parameters are within policy.
9. Develop, mentor, and coach all members of the Planning Team.
10. Support all ERP projects that help drive business optimization.
Professional Knowledge & Experience
1. Experience leading a team of 5+.
2. Proven ability to lead and execute SIOP.
3. Full understanding of MRP parameters and functionality.
4. Demonstrates solid analytical skills in forecasting and anticipating production needs and capabilities.
5. Proven ability to solve practical problems and deal with various changing situations under pressure.
6. High competency level in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum).
7. Experienced in works order control.
8. A proven understanding of traceability.
9. Representing the section at internal meetings and presenting planning performance achievements.
10. Ability to lead projects and negotiate with cross-functional and cross-market teams.
11. Good business writing skills and ability to use networks to influence business activity and convince others.
12. Excellent interpersonal skills with good relationship-building skills.
13. Ability to drive results and obtain information from a team.
14. A proven team player with creative problem-solving skills.
15. Ability to multi-task, proactive with good presentation skills and self-initiative.
