The Independent Schools Examinations Board provides rigorous, high-quality examinations and assessments for pupils seeking entry to independent senior schools at 11+ and 13+. The examinations, backed by the leading independent school associations - GSA, IAPS, and HMC - include the Common Pre-Tests, Common Entrance, and Common Academic Scholarship examinations. We are looking for an experienced, highly organised, and results-driven Marketing & Sales Manager to promote and sell ISEB’s assessments and qualifications to schools and parents, and to build and nurture relationships with schools. You will be speaking with potential new customers, understanding their assessment requirements, and ensuring that ISEB is their provider of choice. You will work closely with the Head of Qualifications and Head of Delivery to rapidly grow ISEB’s customer base in a repeatable and scalable way.
You’ll be the expert in ISEB’s customers, building relationships with schools’ admissions teams, academic heads and school leaders based on ISEB’s core values: accept, transform, inspire – positioning ISEB as their trusted partner beyond the assessment. You’ll be highly motivated, with a strong desire to find new customers and close deals. You’ll also be highly adept at data reporting, so that all teams can support customers through the customer experience cycle and demonstrate impact.
THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Devise and deliver data-driven marketing plans to support ISEB’s existing assessments and qualifications to boost awareness and engagement, and drive sales.
2. Devise and deliver effective go-to-market plans to launch new products and generate sales leads.
3. Develop and deliver a range of sales and marketing campaigns with clear objectives and demonstrating impact.
4. Be data driven: reporting clearly on and accountable for the market, prospect, lead, conversion, customer and retention statistics, and demonstrating the impact of activity on each segment.
5. Develop a strategy for online advertising, including PPC and social, that drives customers to our website and online shop and generates leads and sales.
6. Analyse the market, looking at the competitor and product landscape, to identify ISEB’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and apply this insight to all sales and marketing activities.
7. Build customer personas and identify opportunities for cross-promotion and new product development.
8. Set sales targets, and report on progress and ROI.
9. Develop and maintain relationships with key customers by making regular visits and calls to ensure ISEB understands their needs and identifies opportunities to support, build loyalty and increase sales.
10. Identify opportunities for ISEB to attend/exhibit at industry events and conferences, and work with our events lead to ensure that the right products and messages are always presented.
11. Attend industry events and conferences, and present/run workshops/webinars as required.
12. Work with our creative team to develop on-brand marketing and sales literature and promotional materials, and the Qualifications and Delivery teams to develop content that supports the customer at every stage of the customer success cycle.
13. Devise and operate a social media, advertising, and PR strategy.
14. Champion customer service and put the customer at the heart of everything ISEB does through working with our customer support and qualifications delivery teams to ensure best practices are in place and are being followed and ensure that there is a clear flow of information between customer service and marketing.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
1. Ideally, experience in and an understanding of the independent education, assessment, and/or education technology sectors.
2. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills – you will need to build strong relationships with key customers, and confidently represent ISEB in the independent education industry and beyond.
3. Strong analytical, organisational, and creative thinking skills, and knowledge of data analysis and report writing.
4. The willingness to work cross-departmentally and use multiple different skills to support a small business achieve ambitious goals. Excellent cross-departmental communication and collaboration skills, including conflict resolution, presentation, and negotiation skills.
5. A customer-centric approach, that puts the customer at the heart of all of ISEB’s activities.
6. A self-starter who is confident with approaching other colleagues and external contacts to gather information required to deliver sales and marketing activities.
7. The willingness to learn new systems and skills to get sales and marketing activities across the line.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
1. Excellent knowledge of the independent schools sector.
2. Experience delivering successful school admissions campaigns and activities, both online and offline.
3. Experience developing and delivering marketing plans and go-to-market (launch) plans that deliver results.
4. Excellent organisational and time-management skills, and an eye for detail.
5. Experience working with CRM systems to manage every aspect of the customer cycle.
6. Experience with FreshSales, Mailchimp, HubSpot, or similar email marketing systems, and with data management and GDPR.
7. Experience with digital advertising such as Google Ads and Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn advertising.
8. Experience with WordPress, WooCommerce, and/or Academy LMS a bonus.
The role is full time, 37 hours per week (09:00 to 17:00, with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break) although some flexibility will be required. You will be mostly home-based, with a requirement to attend the office in Ringwood at least one day a week, and to visit schools as and when required. Candidates should therefore live within easy commuting distance of Ringwood, Hampshire.
