We are looking to recruit highly motivated band 5 nurses to join the team in the Cardiac Catheter Labs. This is a full time role in the catheter lab, however initially there will be a 2-4 week induction period on the day unit prior to transfer to the cath lab in order to gain experience and a full appreciation of the patient journey. The length of this induction period will depend on previous experience.
The cardiac catheter lab carries out a specialist service to both paediatric and adult patients with a variety of interesting cases in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure and congenital cardiology, including angiography, angioplasty, electrophysiology, TAVI and implantable devices.

What you’ll do
Our routine lists run from Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00. Outside of these hours (including overnight during the week and weekends) we run an On Call service for emergencies. Full training will be given in the catheter lab including an initial 8-week supernumerary period followed by the completion of competencies. Once fully trained you will be part of the On Call team and be rostered to cover out of hours emergencies, this is usually after a period of 4-6 months.
As a Cath Lab nurse, you will be scrubbing and circulating for a variety of cardiac cath lab procedures. As well as supporting recovery, recovering patients post procedure including general and local anaesthetics of adults and paediatric patients. You will be responsible for promoting a high standards of nursing care and multi-disciplinary working, requiring good communication and to assist with the throughput of the labs for elective, inpatients and emergencies cases.
The cardiac catheter lab is committed to education, and you will have the opportunity to attend the in-house Introduction to Cardiovascular Nursing course in addition to the opportunity to attend national conferences relating to Cardiology.
