Renfrewshire Council’s Finance and Resources service is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Finance Business Partner team.
Working with the Finance Business Partner team, you will provide financial advice and support to the Children’s Services senior management team and to relevant Children’s Services service managers. Your support will primarily be focused on the Children and Justice Social Work area of the service. You will have a leading role in financial management and accounting services, and in helping to maintain effective financial controls.
You will prepare and monitor budgets. You will help complete statutory accounts, statistical returns and grant claims in accordance with proper accounting practice. You will assist with the development and improvement of our management accounting processes and our Business World enterprise resource planning system.
You will be a CCAB or equivalent qualified accountant with experience of working in a finance service role, preferably in a public sector accounting environment.
You will possess well-developed communication and report-writing skills; have significant experience in using and developing financial systems, reports and processes; and be able produce financial analyses to a high standard.
Whilst the role is currently focused on support of Children’s Services (in particular, Children and Justice Social Work), the post is generic in nature and future rotation of service-specific duties is possible to support professional development opportunities and/or workforce planning.
Within our finance team, we are currently looking at new ways of working, establishing a mix of office-based and home-based working in this role.
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check. The level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
