An opportunity has arisen for an Accountant within a well-established accountancy practice on the outskirts of Slough. This firm enjoys a high staff retention and is recruiting to build the team. This role will be within a friendly team, predominantly working on a mixed portfolio of SME clients.
The role would suit an Accountant with a solid accounts background from practice and ideally have some experience of VAT and personal tax. The role would ideally be a floating resource, predominantly working in the accounts department and assisting with personal tax and VAT during busy periods. Training in personal tax and VAT can be provided if necessary.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Accounts preparation for SME clients (FRS 102 Section 1a & FRS 105)
2. Assisting the VAT team with the preparation of quarterly management accounts and VAT returns
3. Give advice to clients on salary and dividends
4. Assist with Personal Tax Returns (experience desired but not essential)
5. Be the first point of contact for allocated clients, responding to various client enquiries in an accurate and timely manner
6. Develop an ongoing, effective relationship with clients and ensure retention of clients
7. Working within a team to ensure deadlines are met and be able to work independently
The successful candidate will bring with them significant experience from a similar role within a practice environment.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Be qualified or an exceptional qualified by experience accountant
2. Have a minimum of five years’ experience gained within practice
3. Have a solid experience of accountancy software e.g. Sage, IRIS, FreeAgent, Kashflow and other online bookkeeping software
4. Be an amiable team player
5. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
6. Be highly organised with attention to detail
