Please review full Job description & person Specifcation The role involves assisting and supporting the Research team with clinical trial set-up and running of non-interventional studies, the retrieval, review and entry of clinical trials patient data using paper and eCRFs. The successful applicant will be patient facing and be involved/responsible for screening and consenting patients, basic patient assessment i.e. taking blood pressure, phlebotomy etc and training would be offered for each skillset required prior to undertaking a study. The successful candidate should have a flexible approach to their duties and the ability to work both as part of the team as well as independently playing a key role in the development, initiation and data capture for national and international trials. The maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records is an essential aspect of this post as well as a good communication skills both within the research teams and with patients. Carry out clinical procedures, including but not limited to performing ECGs, phlebotomy, etc. and care as required within set protocols and within the scope of the role. Responsible for delegated aspects of assessment, planning and delivery of clinical care in support of the research teams ensuring the highest possible standard of care. Assist in the monitoring of patients by performing and accurately recording and reporting all appropriate tests as per protocol. Prepare patients for examination, treatments or assessment following consent and adhering to protocol. Transfer patients safely to other departments and wards as requested. Document observations in patient/client records paper / electronically. Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations and summon assistance. Maintain and ensure that equipment is working correctly, adhering to suppliers instructions and with knowledge of controls assurance procedures. Participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care as delegated by the registered nurse Assist with admission and discharge planning including booking follow-up appointments 2. Knowledge and Skills Demonstrates knowledge and appreciation of the Research Assistant role within the multidisciplinary team and demonstrate the ability to explain the role to a range of people. Demonstrate own activities to other staff and students explaining underpinning rationale.
