Job overview
The role of Training Programme Director is focused on the improvement of learner supervision, assessment, educational experience and outcomes and patient safety for GP trainees. This role is continuously evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.
You will be based within the Frimley GP HDR Training Scheme, working with a team of fellow Programme Directors, Deans and Administrators to deliver high quality educational and pastoral support to GP specialty trainees. You will work to deliver the GP curriculum over three years, preparing trainees to achieve MRCGP.
You will engage with colleagues in the Primary Care Department to progress the GP school operational plan, lead on quality management and the development of policies and processes associated with GP training.

Main duties of the job
You should be a self-motivated individual, able to respond quickly to changing priorities and workloads. Strong leadership skills are essential.
You should have good knowledge of the GP curriculum and associated mandatory requirements and be able to positively influence GP specialty trainees to achieve these. We expect applicants to have extensive knowledge of General Practice and have a current license to practice.
Candidates should be experienced in healthcare education management - which may be achieved through a formal university course or equivalent experience.
You will be a representative of the Primary Care Department and will be expected to be a positive advocate for NHSE at all times. You will promote leadership that inspires, motivates, and empowers all staff, whilst demonstrating the values of the NHS.

* Considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context

* Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, related NHS organisations and regulatory bodies
* Understanding of the workforce transformation agenda
* Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years
* Active involvement in, and up to date with, appraisal processes
* Knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes, including an understanding of healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters

Qualifications and Training
* Primary clinical healthcare qualification
* Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body
* Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development (example: educator courses, Train the Trainer, etc)
* Educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, or presently undertaking an approved and validated course to obtain at the earliest opportunity
* Higher educational qualification such as a postgraduate diploma or Masters in Medical Education
