Bristol Cathedral Choir School exists to provide a world-class education for the children of Bristol – so that they leave with a deep understanding of the world around them. The school is a highly oversubscribed state cathedral choir school with a rich history and a Christian ethos. It is a music school, educating choristers for Bristol Cathedral for the past 880 years and offers an enhanced and rich musical experience for all. The school provides a traditional academic curriculum to its students, regardless of their background or ability, and emphasises the teaching of ‘Powerful Knowledge’.
We are looking for a bright, motivated and highly organised Attendance Officer to play a key role in supporting our attendance team in their drive for improvement and success. Previous school or Sixth Form experience is not necessary, as full training will be provided - if you are excited by this opportunity and believe that you have the necessary enthusiasm and transferable skills, we encourage you to apply.

Our Operations Team plays a critical role at BCCS, maintaining a high standard of procedural and administrative expertise. We are a positive and proactive team, putting the wellbeing and support of each other, our teaching colleagues and students at the heart of everything we do.
The core purpose of this role is to maintain excellent standards of attendance, working under the guidance of the Attendance Lead, Assistant Head and pastoral support leaders, to achieve the school’s attendance targets and sustain ongoing improvement in school attendance by working with children and families to support them. In doing so you will provide day to day whole-school lesson attendance monitoring, ensuring that attendance is accurately recorded and absence is challenged. Bristol Cathedral Choir School is an academy that specialises in Music. The academy became part of the Cathedral Schools Trust (a Multi Academy Trust) in 2016. It serves students from all over Bristol and welcomes those of all faiths and none. We are proud of our diverse, tolerant and respectful community, which reflects Bristol’s demographic.
With a comprehensive intake, students present with a large range of additional educational needs. The proportion of students with an EHCP is well above the national average. Similarly the school welcomes a significant number of children who are looked after or previously looked after.
The Sixth Form has approximately 425 students, many of whom join in Year 12 from other schools. Levels of attainment are high. The majority of students progress to university, including Russell group institutions and Oxbridge.
The school is amongst the most oversubscribed schools in Bristol, with a trend of strong results in public examinations at both GCSE and A level.
