Senior Surveyor – Property Development
Plowman Craven are one of the largest surveying and specialist measurement companies in the UK. We work on huge exclusive projects across the country, our offices are based in Harpenden and London.
An opportunity to join our surveying team as a Senior Surveyor in our Property Development team has become available. You will take responsibility, be well organised and lead the project survey team on allocated projects collaborating with Project Managers and the Delivery Lead team to meet the project objectives. You will also mentor and act as a role model to Surveyors and Junior Surveyors.
Your responsibilities include:
1. Oversee all surveying and technical aspects of a project once client instruction has been received meeting all required company standards, such as quality and health and safety.
2. Act as mentor, helping team members gain the necessary experience and technical knowledge to further develop skills over time.
3. Working in conjunction with the project survey team, discuss and agree the most appropriate technology and the most efficient method to deliver projects to drive success against programme, quality, and commercial objectives.
4. Pro-actively communicate with the project team including the delivery team and provide reports on project progress for allocated tasks to the Project Manager and Lead Surveyor, encouraging the survey team to do the same on their tasks.
5. Working with the Survey Manager, ensure each survey task is resourced with the right skills and equipment, in a way that prioritises consistency throughout the lifecycle of the project and considers opportunities for professional development aligned with company competency framework.
6. Lead by example on managing all project data, ensuring the project team are adhering to company protocols including but not limited to file naming, folder structures, file sizes, archiving and security.
7. Ensure that the project survey team deliver the project to the appropriate level of quality.
8. Review internal surveyor work in accordance with the QA Checklist by the task owner and delivered to the CAD/Revit Authoring Teams in a ‘client ready’ format.
9. Review and prepare feedback for external supplier work in accordance with the QA Checklist.
10. Ensure independent QA checks on specific tasks are completed as appropriate.
11. You will have regular communication with the client as needed and feedback.
12. You will also stay up to date and informed with latest trends and technology developments in the industry, updating the company and the team as needed.

Key requirements and qualifications:
23. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in general surveying
24. Laser scanning experience
25. Topographical surveying experience
26. Measured building surveying experience
27. Qualification relevant to surveying or civil engineering
28. Proficient in written and spoken English
29. Use of N4CE, Cyclone & AutoCAD
30. Strong IT understanding
31. Willingness to be flexible with working location and hours
