About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Cook (Social Support Group) to oversee the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals for our clients attending Leisure Centre activities. This role involves general kitchen operations, maintaining high hygiene standards, and working closely with volunteers and support staff to ensure excellent service.
Casual role, working 9am – 2pm on various days and special events – Up to 10 hours per week
Casual hourly pay rate: $40.84 (inclusive of 25% loading)
Key Responsibilities:
* Kitchen Operations: Prepare and serve high-quality meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met for clients with allergies, dietary restrictions, and religious beliefs.
* Menu Planning: Collaborate with the Service Coordinator to plan a well-balanced, healthy menu, staying within budget and ensuring food orders are made on time.
* Customer Service: Build positive relationships with clients, ensuring their individual needs and preferences are met respectfully and professionally.
* Quality & Compliance: Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations, maintain cleaning schedules, and conduct necessary audits.
* Health and Safety: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of yourself, colleagues, volunteers, and clients by following all health and safety policies and procedures.
* Qualifications: Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or similar), Current First Aid certification.
* Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within an aged care or healthcare environment.
* Knowledge: Sound understanding of food safety legislation, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), and Infection Control procedures.
* Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and needs.
* Special Requirements: National Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening (if applicable), Working with Children Check (if applicable), valid driver’s licence.
* Ability to adapt to changing work rosters and priorities.
* Familiarity with dietary requirements specific to health, cultural, or religious needs.
