Senior Structural Engineer (Permanent Position)

We are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Structural Engineer to assist in dealing with an increase in workload and the further development and expansion of a dynamic Architectural practice in Barnsley. The team is responsible for the design of buildings in the commercial, industrial, health, leisure, retail, and residential development sectors. The candidate will work on the design of a range of structural engineering projects which predominantly cover the north of England, centred on Leeds, but may include sites across the UK.
The candidate should have a well-rounded design experience with new build projects and include a sound knowledge of foundation and retaining wall designs. They should be proficient in the design of all structural materials and have the ability and experience in the preparation of calculation packages to assist other team members. Proficient TEKLA and TEDDS software experience is essential.
The Senior Structural Engineer candidate must have good experience in the preparation of structural engineering inspection reports on a variety of building types and/or structures, which may involve long distance travel to various parts of the UK. They should possess a sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations.
The candidate will be a Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE) or approaching Chartered status. They should be eligible to live and work in the UK and will ideally have at least 4 years previous UK based consultancy experience within this field of work.
The suitable candidate must be motivated and enthusiastic and will possess:
1. Capability to work independently or with the design team.
2. Knowledge and understanding of current technical standards, including Eurocodes.
3. Management skills in assessing potential projects and preparing fee quotes.
4. Good experience in the use of AutoCAD.
5. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. Experience in dealing with clients/architects/external project managers on projects.
7. Ability to represent the company at design team meetings/site visits.
8. Commitment to continued professional development.
9. Hold a full UK Driving Licence.
