Paediatric Staff Nurse - Children's Emergency Department (CED)
We are looking for experienced paediatric nurses (or adult nurses with paediatric experience) to join our team in the Children's Emergency Department at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. We are the Paediatric Major Trauma Centre (MTC) for the south west of England and provide care to over 45,000 sick and injured children from across the region each year.

We have full time and part time vacancies for enthusiastic and committed children's nurses who have completed their preceptorship to join us and welcome informal visits to come and meet the team
Main duties of the job
As well as delivering clinical care we also understand the importance of supportive professional development and our multidisciplinary leadership team are committed to guiding your development with us:
Education: You will have the opportunity to undertake a bespoke package of learning adapted to your experience. With support from our clinical skills facilitators, your development will include specialist education on major trauma, major incidents, minor illness and injuries and mental health, as well as learning through immersive, multi-disciplinary simulation.
Research: We are a national leader in children's emergency research and have strong links with the department-based research team to keep our care up to date and innovative.
Wellbeing: We are dedicated to the support and wellbeing of staff, with departmental wellbeing weeks, team 'check ins' and access to a range of initiatives and activities, including support services.
(Please note that this vacancy is not suitable for internationally educated nurses requiring to complete OSCE in order to register with the NMC).

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment
* Interest in the clinical area
* Experience of teaching
* Experience of taking charge
Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrate competence in clinical skills relevant to the clinical area
* Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively with patients, carers and MDT
* Competence in calculations for safe administration of medicines/fluids
* Ability to take the lead, initiate and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient
* Clinical decision making ability
* Teaching/supervisory skills
* Ability to work with minimum supervision
* Act in a professional manner
* Self motivated
* A team player
* Recognition of own limits
Public Sector Language Competency
* Be able to speak fluent English to an appropriate standard
Qualifications and and Training
* RSCN/ RN child branch (NMC registered) or equivalent
* Current NMC registration
* Work towards relevant university accredited post basic study programmes e.g. teaching and assessing course
