Production Planning and Control Placement
The Production Planning and Control department has a helicopter view of operations with end-to-end visibility and control of Airbus Space Systems Production within the UK.
In Portsmouth, we plan, schedule, and control the Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) of spacecraft payloads. We maintain optimised production plans and schedules to drive On Quality, On Time, and On Cost deliveries while ensuring full end-to-end control and traceability of purchased and allocated materials.
Production Planning and Control deal with uncertainty and complex problems on a daily basis. We challenge ourselves and others to continuously improve and proactively manage risk and opportunity of our production system to enhance our performance (On Quality, On Time, and On Cost delivery).
What you will be doing:
During this placement in Production Planning and Control, the activities you may undertake include:
* Create, maintain, and optimise the production schedule (using Oracle Primavera P6) according to our industrial capacity and capabilities;
* Create or load demand in Material Requirements/Resource Planning (MRP I and MRP II) software (SAP P11) ensuring accurate material cost allocations;
* Identify, manage, and control material risks and shortages for your allocated project or product;
* Confirm suitable supplier quotations (lead time and cost) and release purchase requisitions in accordance with the project schedule requirements;
* Manage work orders (release, expedite, and closure) for internal make parts or assemblies, providing authorisation to AIT operations and ensuring full traceability of materials throughout the project or product lifecycle;
* Raise Delivery Request Notes (DRN), coordinating inputs from internal stakeholders to ensure deliveries are completed and fulfilled on time while satisfying the applicable export, compliance, and customs controls;
* Analyse the status of production (progress, impacts, blockers, and issues) and iterate the production plan;
* Prepare and participate or lead the Weekly Master Production meetings involving all the stakeholders;
* Build, update, and analyse KPIs measuring production plan execution and deliveries with a view to defining improvement plans and associated actions.
Requirements:
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore, it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.
Successful candidates will typically be able to demonstrate the following:
* Studying towards a degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics), Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or Business Management;
* Good organisational skills (time management, planning, prioritisation, etc.);
* IT and numerical skills;
* Good communication with stakeholders from different levels and the ability to influence;
* Problem-solving skills;
* Team working.
