Job Description
Peacock Technology seeks a Senior Automation/Robotics Engineer to join our research and development team.
We combine robotics and artificial intelligence expertise to deliver ongoing solutions for food producers, enhancing long-term food sustainability and animal welfare. Our range of products utilizes robotics, machine vision, and sensing technologies to monitor cow condition and provide farmer insights for disease prevention and welfare.
Our development team consists of highly qualified engineers with PhDs in Software Engineering, Mathematics, and Mechanical Engineering, along with close working relationships with universities, colleges, and research organizations.
This role contributes to our commitment to advancing technological solutions by taking responsibility for our robotic products and new developments.
The successful candidate will participate in all stages of the development process, from requirements capture through development, onsite commissioning, and testing. They will take ownership of robotic and automation projects.

We are looking for someone passionate about engineering, with a professional approach to projects, and able to find solutions to unusual automation challenges.
Responsibilities
* Lead Automation & Robotic Design Projects
* Design and test control systems: PLC, Scada, Robotics
* Produce specifications, plans, and cost analysis
* Produce appropriate documentation for proposals and customer document packs
* Actively develop the skills of other team members
* Liaise with customers and suppliers throughout the project cycle
Requirements
* A higher education qualification in a relevant field and more than 3 years' experience in a related role in industry
* Willingness to visit farms to develop dairy robot solutions
* Expertise programming PLCs to an advanced level, producing high-quality, well-formatted programs
* A high level of technical knowledge and the ability to apply this to practical problems
* An understanding of electrical principles and DC circuits
* Experience of producing high-quality, well-formatted programs. Our projects can be based on a variety of PLC platforms requiring strong ladder and structured text programming skills
* Hands-on experience of assembly and test of automated solutions
* Passport and driving license. Willingness to travel occasionally
Desirable Skills
* Experience with Kuka robotic systems
* Experience with Beckhoff and/or Omron PLCs
* Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
