We are retained exclusively by our client to appoint a talented, ‘hands on’ Manufacturing Operations Manager for this well established, independently owned company which is a UK leader within its field and currently turns over in excess of £25M. Working in a supporting role to the entrepreneurial Managing Director, this all-encompassing remit will take responsibility for managing high volume production, quality control, warehouse and transport processes and people. Based at their West Yorkshire site, the main objectives for the Operations Manager will be to consistently achieve quality products and service, whilst also developing the most cost effective and efficient processes, prioritising health & safety and ensuring that the team are well trained, motivated and supported. This challenging and interesting remit, working as part of the senior management team, will include: - Day to day management for 5 direct reports covering production, warehouse, transport and quality with a wider team of circa 100. Staff development, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and ownership of the pay bandings system to ensure training and skills are tracked, and pay is reflective, whilst making sure there are the correct mix of skills within the workforce. Overseeing factory premises, being responsible for both site maintenance and security. Monitoring operations, identifying route cause of any issues and triggering corrective actions Continually reviewing systems and processes to identify any areas for improvement. Working with the engineering team to ensure time is allowed for machine maintenance to take place to avoid breakdowns. Responsible for expenditure on operational areas and identify any areas where savings can be made. Identifying and rectifying any product quality issues. Ensuring manufacturing is in line with certifications held and required processes followed. Ensuring the transport function remains compliant with all DVSA regulations. Ensuring SOPs are documented to both aid training and ensure business continuity. Development of systems, processes and reporting that track productivity and standards against set KPIs. The successful candidate will need to possess proven experience of operational leadership within a high volume manufacturing business with a passion for lean processes and continuous improvement. The commercial skills to manage budgets and understand the need for ROI are also required.
