We are currently seeking an interim Building Maintenance Supervisor to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.
The position is based in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 12 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £37,000 plus 15% flex allowance (totalling £42,550) per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience (salary includes requirement to work occasional bank holidays/weekends as required).
Main job purpose
Provide maintenance and reactive support for site facilities, equipment & systems, including contractor control relating to the building infrastructure across a large manufacturing complex. Contribute towards ensuring compliance with planned statutory and maintenance activities, including contractor control. Drive improved performance for cost, service & quality for the above. To implement/manage site infrastructure projects relating to buildings infrastructure. Reporting to Site services and Sustainability Manager. The role has supporting links with the Engineering department, operations, quality, H & S, Project team & external contractors.
Key accountabilities
1. Provide strong maintenance support in area to improve safety, people, cost and service.
2. Drive improvements in maintenance performance and cost reduction through identification and implementation of best practice techniques and application of root cause analysis to develop long term solutions to chronic downtime issues. Also drive improvements through carrying out daily health checks and periodic condition monitoring on critical utilities equipment.
3. Supports and in some cases lead improvement projects, through the change management process, from minor changes through to CAPEX justification and commissioning.
4. Using strong technical expertise, ability to priorities multiple tasks using own initiatives to sustain high reliability of all equipment and systems.
5. Deliver best practice contractor management and permit to work whilst ensuring contractors provide a service that is quality driven and value for money.
6. Identify, source and ensure availability of maintenance spares and contracted activities.
7. Provide ownership and support of own area for engineering shutdowns and start-ups.
8. Set up communications with key stakeholders such that all works carried out fulfil the requirements of Environmental, Health & Safety, business needs.
9. Support the site in the uploading of the department maintenance database into IT based maintenance planning system (Build app).
10. React to safety tags entered into build app to ensure a timely resolution to issues identified in areas across site.
11. Responsible for all civil related infrastructure on the site - including the following: Building fabric/construction, roofs, floors, ceilings, drainage, doors, windows, coatings, gutters, cladding, internal rainwater gutters, plumbing, internal fitting & fixtures, roads, footpaths, fire compartmentation.
Experience required
Essential:
1. Previous experience in a building maintenance/facilitator role (preferred Civil engineering background).
2. Previous experience managing contractors via permit to work (min 3 years).
3. Previous experience in managing multidiscipline projects (min 3 years).
4. Extensive knowledge of CDM regulations, asbestos management, working at height, excavation, demolition.
5. Ability to communicate/manage key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would have the following:
1. IOSH Managing safely / NEBOSH.
2. City and Guilds level 3 in a civil discipline.
3. Project management training.
4. Permit to work training.
5. Asbestos management.
6. Experience with excavation/demolition.
