Our Reach in the Community service supports those who have experienced domestic abuse and homelessness in Manchester. This could mean they are in temporary accommodation, are sofa surfing, or any other means of insecure housing. As a Domestic Abuse Worker, you will be required to support with the organising and facilitation of the ‘Reach in the Community’ Drop-in, providing community support to service users who have experienced domestic abuse and homelessness. The role will also involve facilitating our structured domestic abuse group work programmes. The main responsibilities of our Domestic Abuse Worker include: To support with the coordination and facilitation of a weekly drop-in service for domestic abuse survivors experiencing homelessness. This includes working with volunteers to provide attendees with a cooked meal and facilitating wellbeing activities. To facilitate domestic abuse group work sessions. Support with collecting and recording data for monitoring and evaluating the impact of the service. Assess the needs of service users attending drop-in, ensuring their safety at the point of contact. Complete initial DASH assessments of risk where appropriate. Assist service users coming to the drop-in for domestic abuse related support. Provide advice on housing, safety, and civil options where appropriate. Ensure high standards of case management and service delivery, in line with Leading Lights standards. To be successful as a Domestic Abuse Worker you will need to: Be able to demonstrate recent significant experience of carrying out direct work with vulnerable people, including experience of working with people affected by domestic abuse and homelessness in a one-to-one or group setting. Experience of carrying out risk assessments, needs assessments, and support planning. Ability to facilitate group sessions, ensuring an accessible, safe and supportive environment for all participants. Ability to design, deliver and evaluate creative interventions in a 1:1 or group setting. Ability to demonstrate an excellent level of understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on individuals and families, and of additional barriers experienced by women from minority communities. Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise work in a busy environment.
