Job Description:
We have a current requirement for a Construction Manager to join our E&M DSEAR Team based in Livingston on a permanent basis. The purpose of the Construction Manager role is to plan DSEAR Compliance projects and oversee their progress in a timely and cost-effective manner. The role is central to ensure that customer requirements are fully satisfied and to continually develop and improve project communication and performance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Managing and coordinating the DSEAR field resource to ensure delivery of project deliverables on time, within budget, and to the highest standard.
* Ensure effective management of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance for all projects during both phases of pre-construction and construction.
* Building relationships with the internal teams, the client and other relevant contractors on site and communicate effectively between all parties.
* Help to ensure HSEQ is being documented accurately throughout the office team and the site team.
* Ensure that Health and Safety reporting on projects on site and at managerial level is being carried out and consistent with the company requirements.
* Contribute and support to the effective management of DSEAR Compliance projects, project deliverables and actions, including early planning for commissioning, handover, and final acceptance.
* Ensure and support effective quality assurance and overall integrity of project delivery process.
* Effective management and planning input to the overall programme interfaces with other projects and contribute in the co-ordination of third-party stakeholders, as required.
* Managing Health & Safety process and ensuring these are adhered to across the site.
* Manage the daily operations on site and ensure project timescales are met within a safe and accurate fashion.
* Reporting daily/weekly to the Delivery Manager and Project Manager on key aspects of progress issues and concerns at WGM and client level.
* Support and contribute to the Project Managers monthly review reports in readiness for their presentation.
* Create and improve on an excellent Health and Safety environment with a healthy focus on training and promotion within all projects.
* Ensuring all projects are commenced and completed to the quality standards and expectations of WGM and our clients.
* Identify and allocate the skilled resource requirements necessary to deliver the overall programme for construction and commissioning.
* Oversee and manage any construction and commissioning risks initiating corrective action where necessary.
* Plan resource and identify the workload of current and new projects with the assistance of the Delivery Manager, Project Manager and Maintenance Planner.
* Contribute to the effective management of internal skills and resource requirements.
* Ensure information from Lessons Learnt Register is shared throughout the business.
* Monitor the Health and Safety of the projects. Complete routine audits and inspections on performance of both internal and sub-contract engagements.
* Contribute to the Group Health and Safety aspiration of 0% LTAFR (Lost Time Accident Frequency Rate).
* Attending meetings as required with clients, design team and subcontractors.
* Help to ensure that we eliminate customer and client complaints on site.
* Expected to train to Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) level in relation to the WGM Temporary Works Procedures.
To be considered for this role, you will have a proven track record in construction management. You will have a background in either mechanical, electrical or civil engineering. Ideally you will have experience within the water sector but this is not essential. You will hold a valid CSCS card and SMSTS certification. DSEAR hazardous awareness would be desirable, and a full valid UK driver's license is essential.
