Bridge Inspector

Join our dynamic team in the heart of Essex as we embark on the crucial mission of conducting thorough highway structure inspections. Operating both autonomously and collaboratively, you'll play a pivotal role in enhancing the asset information of bridges throughout the county.
As a valued member of our close-knit inspection team, you'll be instrumental in executing our General and Principal Inspection programme. This multifaceted role will see you utilizing cutting-edge technology such as BridgeStation, while conducting inspections on foot, utilizing MEWP, and harnessing the power of drone inspection techniques. Key Responsibilities;
• Undertaking General Inspection of highway structures
• Undertaking Principal Inspection of highway structures
• Accurate identification and reporting of defects
• Immediate reporting of safety defects
• To represent the company in public, to provide feedback to public on demand
• To produce well-presented and accurate reports and sketches.
• To manage a challenging workload subject to change at short notice.
• To input defect information and photographs into the bridge inspection database, BridgeStation
• Preparation of Defect Sketches and Photo Location Plans
Ideal Candidate;
• The position requires county wide travel and a full driving licence is essential
• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or demonstrable equivalent on job learning.
• Good understanding of structural behaviour and detailed knowledge of inspection codes and standards.
• Demonstrable ability in assessing risk in relation to highway structures and proposing mitigation measures when safety defects are identified.
• Experience of liaising with the public
• Good IT skills – familiar with MS Office Word and Excel.
• Ability to work in water and at height
