The Home to School Transport Team sits within the Education & Skills Department of the Children, Young People and Learning Directorate. The team works collaboratively with the Special Educational Needs Assessment Team (SENAT) and other associated stakeholders, such as Children and Adult services, to support the decisions and processes concerned with Statutory Assessment for learners with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), the placement of children and young adults in learning settings and the allocation of resources to settings.
You will be providing self-directed and proactive, confidential professional business and administrative support. This will include directly supporting the Home to School Transport Team by assessing transport assistance eligibility for prospective service users aged 16-25, providing early advice and guidance on home to school and college transport policy for future transport service users, updating databases and providing support to the Principal School Transport Officer to enable the team to deliver their strategic objectives and key outcomes.
By providing professional business and administrative support you will be making a difference to the work of Children, Young People and Learning Directorate and enhancing the effectiveness of the whole Home to School Transport team. About You
Key skills and responsibilities of the role include:
* Ensuring applications are processed and eligibility for transport assistance is determined in accordance with the home to school and college transport policy for service users aged 16-25
* Providing early advice and guidance on home to school and college transport policy for future transport service users transitioning to Post-16 and Post-19 education.
* Working independently, confidently, flexibly and in close partnership with others in the Directorate and wider organisation.
* Good time management to manage short deadlines and conflicting priorities.
* Word and Excel skills.
* Resilience and interpersonal skills when dealing with vulnerable individuals or those with complex problems, and occasional challenging behaviours from those accessing the service.
* Handling information with sensitivity and confidentiality.
* GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent qualification, or experience operating at this level of literacy and numeracy.
* Recognised qualification in office skills or administration, or a business-related subject at level 2 or 3 of the national qualifications' framework, or an acquired equivalent experience within the workplace.
