We are currently recruiting for a Higher Scientific Officer based in Lisburn. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.

Rate of pay: £17.94
Hours of work: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (Occasional out of office hours or Weekend Work Required)
Key Responsibilities:
1. The post holder will join a small team of microbiologists and phycologists responsible for the analysis of Bathing Water samples.
2. The post holder will support the work of the existing team by providing laboratory support for the analysis of water samples, mainly, but not exclusively, collected from designated and candidate Northern Ireland bathing waters, examining phytoplankton, cyanobacteria (Blue Green Algae), and chlorophyll.
3. The post holder will be expected to work to a clearly defined sampling and analysis schedule but also will also be required to take part in ad-hoc sampling and analysis for the Micro team and other MATT teams when required/requested.This will require collaborative working with NIEA regulatory teams.
4. All sampling and analyses are to be carried out according to required standards.
5. The post holder is required to have a current full UK driving licence as they will have access to a vehicle supplied for field duties.
6. The post holder will also be required to work in and near water.
7. The postholder will be required to have experience in marine and/or freshwater phytoplankton and cyanobacteria identification and quantification, as well as experience in chlorophyll analysis.
