We are looking to appoint an Assistant Shop Manager to join our team, who will work with the Shop Manager to oversee the safe and effective management of the shop and will work to further the mission of The Salvation Army. Key Responsibilities: The post-holder will assist with the running of the shop and assume responsibility for the management of the shop in the absence of the Manager. These duties will include managing volunteers, ensuring the highest standards of customer care, assisting in the management of the daily operation of the shop including stock management and housekeeping, managing the security and accounting of cash, health and safety issues, administrative tasks, and the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers. The successful candidate will: Have proven interpersonal skills, previous experience in a charity shop/retail environment and in managing volunteers, be able to work on their own initiative and in a team, enjoy working with people, and be able to deal tactfully with staff, volunteers and the public. It is important that the candidate understands the needs of customers and has basic proficiency in Maths and English.
