The successful applicant will be encouraged to take a lead or supportcolleagues in the Obstetric Lead roles including Obstetric Quality and Safety, Labourward lead, fetal monitoring including development of relevant guidelines etc. Theyshould also play and active role in education and training.The successful candidate will beencouraged to develop other special interests based on service requirements.
Applicants must be a holder ofMRCOG, be eligible for the GMC Specialist Register in Obstetrics andGynaecology within six months of the time of interview. Applicants must hold RCOG ATSM orEquivalent in Fetal Medicine

Main duties of the job
Applicants must also have excellent organisational and communicationskills, be a good team worker and have experience in training undergraduatesand postgraduates. Direct involvement in delivery of NIHR portfolio clinicalresearch trials is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will need to work closely within a team of consultantswho have similar interests and will share Fetal Medicine scan sessions andHigh-risk antenatal clinics across both South Tyneside and Sunderlandhospitals. The Fetal Medicine pregnancy team of consultants will support each otherto deliver the high-risk specialty clinics, high risk screening, growth, multiple pregnancy andcongenital abnormalities.The post holder must be willing to contribute to medium risk antenatal clinics, labour wardmanagement and Caesarean Section Lists to support Ockenden recommendations. Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to support fetal medicine MDT meetingsand engage fully with specific fetal medicine governance including MBBRACE,MNSI, PMRT reviews and neonatal and perinatal Morbidity and mortality meetings.The successful candidate will be on call for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology soGynaecology sessions (DCU theatre and possibly GOPD) would be included the jobplan to maintain gynaecology on call skills.

The successful candidate will be expected to workas a team member to deliver the service contract and to contribute towardsstrategic planning and development within the Directorate.

Essential
1. Full GMC registration
2. MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
3. Relevant CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
4. Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
5. ATSM advanced Labour ward or equivalent experience
6. ATSM Fetal Medicine or equivalent experience
7. Completed GCP training and been involved in NIHR portfolio clinical research
