We have a brand new, exciting opportunity for a Specialist Physiotherapist to work within our Northern Cancer Care (NCCC) team. You will work with the Advanced Physiotherapist to provide a high standard of physiotherapy care to a complex patient group. Please see job description attached for further details.
Applicants should have HCPC registration, experience working as a Physiotherapist in the NHS providing a broad range of experience, and a keen interest in working with this patient group. Good time management and organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure are also essential requirements of this post.
The post will be based at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Main duties of the job
* To work as part of the multidisciplinary NCCC team delivering a high standard of physiotherapy care to patients within the speciality area.
* Working predominantly on inpatient areas, covering outpatient clinics as required and working alongside existing community teams. Working with the Advanced Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist to educate patients/carers and other Healthcare Professionals in the therapy management of Cancer care.
* To be responsible for own continued professional development.
* Maintain a high standard of clinical care, quality improvement and service development.
* Be dynamic, flexible and motivated to drive service improvement.
* Demonstrate a high level of clinical skill, knowledge and communication.
Job responsibilities
* Delivering a high standard of physiotherapy care patient-focused and tailored to the individual.
* Liaising with MDT and sharing progress and plans of patient care.
* Supervising students and support staff.
* Teaching across the department, MDT and where required.
* Involvement in service evaluation and service development.
* Deputising for band 7 when appropriate.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Degree or Equivalent Diploma in Physiotherapy
* State Registered with Health & Care Professions Council
* Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapists
* Involvement in the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN)
Knowledge & Experience
* Have extensive NHS post-registration experience as a band 5 physiotherapist in a rotational post providing a broad range of relevant experience across the core areas of physiotherapy.
* Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Sound knowledge of the physiotherapy process.
* Advanced knowledge of a range of medical conditions and their impact on patient's functional abilities.
* Knowledge of undertaking research and audit projects.
* Knowledge of current NHS issues e.g. NSF's Improving Working Lives.
* Previous experience in a Band 6 post within NHS.
* Experience of working with patients with physical health problems e.g. stroke, mobility problems.
Skills & Abilities
* Organisation, time management and practical application of physiotherapy skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Commitment to personal and service development.
* Ability to present information, written and orally in a clear and logical manner.
* IT Skills.
* Presentation Skills.
* Specialist treatment skills e.g. bobath, splinting and casting.
