Priory Hospital Burgess Hill has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Consultant Psychologist to join our team for a 12 Month fixed term Maternity Cover. We are looking for this role to start in March 2025.
Main duties of the job
Our Consultant Psychologist is responsible for ensuring the systematic provision of specialist psychological input for the patients at Burgess Hill Hospital. Our adult inpatient wards provide multidisciplinary assessment and management for people presenting with complex, severe and often high-risk mental health difficulties. The Consultant Psychologist is a member of a team of senior clinicians and will be called upon to oversee and provide systematic specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and consultation and care planning.

Job responsibilities
1. You will support the development and delivery of behavioral and other psychological interventions for patients and service users and provide appropriately developed psychologically informed guidance to reduce risks, aid recovery and independence.
2. You will provide support and guidance to the psychologist assistants and trainee psychologists.
3. You will be working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area.
4. You will develop and deliver formulation led care and be competent in a range of therapeutic delivery.
5. You will be responsible for the delivery of oversight of supervision and running reflective practice groups and do so with an understanding of the model underpinning your service.
6. You will have effective consultancy skills and be able to manage clinical organisational projects; and have competence in line management responsibilities and service-related standards including clinical governance.
7. To exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the team, including good record keeping and outcomes monitoring.
Person Specification
Skills/Experience/Qualifications
* Managerial and supervisory experience.
* Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 and related legislation.
* Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
* High level of skill in at least one recognised and empirically validated psychological therapy.
* Leadership/motivational skills.
* Excellent analytic and research skills.
* Able to promote effective working relationships.
* Knowledge of Quality Assurance, Audit and Clinical Governance.
* HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
* Qualifications in at least 2 treatment modalities.
* Educated to at least Masters Degree level.
* Full membership of an applied division of the BPS.
* Chartered Psychologist status with the BPS.
