An exciting opportunity has arisen for committed midwives who are currently band 6 or have completed their preceptorship. We have full-time and part-time positions available in our friendly and supportive community teams at Stoke Mandeville and High Wycombe. Our community midwives provide antenatal and postnatal care in the community and support women choosing homebirths on an on-call basis.

We offer a variety of birth choices for our diverse population and have a dedicated suite for women experiencing bereavement. We have a level 2 neonatal service and close links with the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide antenatal care to a caseload of women.
2. Support the delivery of community-based postnatal care.
3. Support the homebirth service.
4. Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records at all times, both written and electronic.
5. Administer and supply medicines under midwives exemptions/PGDs and Medicines Act of 1968 and Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Medicines Policy.
6. Actively promote the concept of holistic personalised care within the maternity services in both hospital and community.
7. Advise on the promotion of health, education, social care and the prevention of illness.
8. Recognise and appropriately manage complex physical, emotional and psychological situations that may be detrimental to the health and well-being of mother and baby.
9. Devise and develop a plan of midwifery care based on assessment in association with mother, taking into account her individual personalised needs and preferences.
10. Implement the plan of midwifery care and where appropriate co-ordinate other members of the multi-disciplinary team responsible for implementing specific aspects of the care.

5. Good communicator both verbally and in writing.
