GB DAF Workshops at Banbury, Gatwick, and at the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT). Our team of highly skilled, factory-trained technicians are on hand in our modern, fully equipped workshops, using the latest technology to get you back on the road as quickly and efficiently as possible.
DAF believes in providing an extensive, high-quality apprenticeship which gives their apprentices the opportunity to advance, succeed, and fulfill all ambitions for a career in the motor industry. With such a wide range of skills instilled, an apprentice can move into any other area of the motor industry.
The day-to-day tasks include:
1. Observing and assisting technicians
2. Following health and safety procedures
3. Servicing
4. MOTs
5. All aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair
Not only will apprentices be working and be trained at a DAF garage, they will attend our DAF Academy in Nottingham four times a year, for two-week periods, to work towards their Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Standard.
A Skills Coach will visit at least every 28 days as part of a close support network to ensure that apprentices are both enjoying and succeeding in their course.
An Apprentice’s training includes:
1. Technical Certificate - IMI Diploma Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
2. Functional Skills in English, Maths, and ICT (if required)
3. Recognised Welding Certificate
4. Apprenticeship standard - Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3
Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm; shifts may work evenings and weekends.
