Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
1. Be responsible for scanning patients and producing independent reports of these scans in line with departmental guidelines.
2. To plan and prioritise one's own workload and that of the department to ensure the efficient flow of work, keeping waiting times to a minimum and maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
3. To communicate with patients, their relatives, and others about the purpose of the examinations and the scan results (in line with departmental guidelines).
4. Take an active role in teaching and practical training of students.
5. Participate in the management of the Vascular Lab department and in the audit or clinical governance programs.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
1. Good Degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
2. MSc in Vascular Ultrasound from CASE accredited University training programme and/or Society of Vascular Technology (SVT) accreditation.
3. Member of Society of Vascular Technology (SVT).
Desirable Criteria
1. Registered with HCPC.
2. STP Train the Trainer Course.
Knowledge
Essential Criteria
1. General knowledge of duplex ultrasound scanning, vascular pathology and anatomy.
2. Policies - H&S.
Experience
Essential Criteria
1. Previous NHS experience.
2. Proven experience in vascular ultrasound scanning post qualification/accreditation.
Desirable Criteria
1. Vascular scanning experience.
2. Research and audit experience.
3. Training and mentoring experience.
