Position Overview
The position of Electrical Maintenance Engineer involves joining the Specialist Bridges Group based at the Severn Bridge Office in Aust, South Gloucestershire. The Specialist Bridges Group is responsible for the maintenance, management, and improvement of significant long span bridges such as the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge, M48 Severn Bridge and M5 Avonmouth Bridge. You will support the electrical inspection and maintenance programme and help drive significant renewal projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Working alongside a team of experienced specialist bridge professionals and the construction partner.
* Acting as electrical technical lead and advisor for the team, providing electrical advice and support.
* Interfacing and leading the Principal Contractor in relation to the electrical Inspection and cyclic maintenance programme.
* Undertaking assurance activities and site checks to ensure compliance with design standards and contractual requirements.
* Occasionally working outdoors and at height, with occasional night work.
* Driving as part of your role; a full clean driving licence is required.
What you'll be leading on:
* Ensuring contractors comply with Highways procedures, policies, and Quality Management Systems.
* Planning, delivery and reporting on inspection schedules for asset repairs.
* Identifying and prioritising remedial asset repairs for annual maintenance plans.
* Providing sign-offs for completed works or deviations from planned work.
* Monitoring compliance with CDM, HSE legislation, and Chapter 8 requirements.
* Preparing reports and providing regular feedback to the senior leadership team.
* Supporting the Asset Needs Manager in developing and monitoring the annual maintenance programme.
To be Successful
* Experience in carrying out electrical inspections and associated maintenance.
* A recognised electrical engineering qualification.
* Good knowledge of DMRB and CDM.
* Understanding of temporary traffic management (Chapter 8).
* Bridge maintenance/remedial works experience.
