The role As a Street Works Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting, recording, and reporting on street works, reinstatements, highway infrastructure, and surface apparatus. You will enforce compliance with relevant legislation—most notably the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA)—and ensure that any breaches are addressed appropriately. You’ll also play an active role in supporting legal proceedings by preparing accurate records and witness statements where required. Key Responsibilities Undertake regular inspections of street works to ensure they are carried out safely and in line with statutory obligations. Monitor compliance with the NRSWA, Codes of Practice, and specifications for reinstatement and openings of highways. Identify, record, and report defects in highway reinstatements and surface apparatus. Work with contractors, utilities, and statutory undertakers to ensure all works are completed to the required standard. About You To succeed in this role, you will be a confident communicator and skilled problem solver who takes pride in delivering high-quality public service. You will have:Essential Skills and Experience: A valid NRSWA Supervisor qualification. Strong knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, local authority responsibilities, and highway network operations.Proven experience of inspecting street works and enforcing compliance.
