About the role
We are seeking an experienced Global Category Manager to lead our Travel & Expense (T&E) categories, including hotel, air, rail, ground transportation, and travel management company. This critical role requires deep knowledge of supplier landscapes, strong supplier relationship management (SRM) skills, and expertise in global travel strategy execution. The ideal candidate will also have experience managing travel agency contracts or implementing online booking tools, which will be a significant asset in driving T&E category excellence globally.
Key responsibilities
Category Leadership:
1. Design and implement global sourcing strategies for hotel, air, rail, and ground transportation categories.
2. Negotiate contracts to secure competitive pricing and ensure high service standards.
3. Monitor industry trends and innovations to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Supplier Relationship Management (SRM):
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with global and local suppliers across all travel categories.
2. Drive the performance of global travel agency partners, ensuring effective service delivery across regions.
3. Serve as the escalation point for supplier-related issues, facilitating timely resolutions.
Operational Oversight & Coordination:
1. Address and resolve travel-related challenges between local and global teams.
2. Ensure seamless alignment and consistent execution of global travel programs at the local level.
Technology & Analytics:
1. Support the maintenance and optimization of online booking tools for travel categories.
2. Leverage data analytics to evaluate category performance, compliance, and supplier KPIs.
3. Identify actionable insights to improve user experience and operational efficiency.
Policy Compliance & Program Governance:
1. Collaborate with stakeholders to refine and enforce travel policies globally.
2. Promote adherence to policies, ensuring they align with corporate objectives and governance standards.
Qualifications and skills
Essential:
1. Proven track record in managing travel agency contracts or implementing online booking tools.
2. Experience in strategic sourcing within hotel, air, rail, and ground transportation categories.
3. Knowledge of travel supplier landscapes and market trends.
4. Proficiency in Power BI or similar tools for data visualization and reporting.
5. Expertise in resolving global-local operational challenges in corporate travel programs.
Preferred:
1. Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
2. Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
3. Deep understanding of supplier dynamics and travel program governance.
4. Demonstrated ability to manage complex travel programs efficiently.
