Security Clearance: BPSS (Basic Disclosure) Job Specification Bridges Section is responsible for the co-ordination of the operational management, inspection and maintenance of all Scottish trunk road structures, comprising 1,900 bridges and 3,700 other structures, through the Scottish Trunk Road Network Management Contract (NMC) for the South West, South East, North West and North East Units. to ensure the required level of performance in meeting safety, network operation, inspection, maintenance, programme delivery, budget and policy objectives. Bridges Section delivers new bridges/structures from inception to construction and use, in section or working closely with Major Projects Directorate. Bridges Section is responsible that all new bridges/structures delivered by, Roads, Major Projects & Rail Directorates and Developers are safe, economical, durable, sustainable, environmentally acceptable and fit well within the landscape. Bridges Section is the Overseeing Organisation for Scotland for all trunk road structures and is responsible for all structures technical standards, advice, structures asset management, specifications and guidance. Bridges Section staff represent Transport Scotland and sit on Scottish and UK national committees, technical bodies, groups and NH technical project boards. This facilitates dissemination of information, best practice and development, writing, reviewing and updating of all structures standards and guidance. General Duties 1. The M8 Woodside Manager will manage the day to day delivery of the M8 Woodside Project on behalf of Transport Scotland. The current stage of the M8 Woodside project involves delivering the Temporary Propping, with an overall value of around £140m. This stage of the project is expected to complete in early 2026 and involves the following specific work elements:. Enabling works, propping progress, coordination & delivery b. Generic bespoke propping design & delivery c. Technical support for repair & strengthening design & delivery to Major Projects d. Stakeholder liaison management, e.g. GCC, SPT, Local businesses, Police, etc e. AiPs & Design/Check certification f. Management of Utility protection and diversions g. TTROs, s56 and Land issues h. Environmental Management & Community Benefits realisation i. Input to meetings & tech workshops j. Governance reporting k. Gateway & Peer Review support 2. Post required to ensure live project design development and delivery for duration of the project. Removing restrictions from M8 and surrounding surface streets as safely, quickly and cost- effectively as possible. 3. Gateway Review and Peer Review support to ensure appropriate level of governance commensurate with Woodside scheme value and potential risk. Other Duties 4. Driving Site progress & delivery programme coordination. 5. Technical Approval review programme management including Approval in Principle (AIP) for scheme elements and consideration of Departures for Standard & certification. 6. Overseeing the Utility diversion and protection programme management and liaison. 7. Environmental reporting and identifying opportunity for improvements as project is developed and delivered. 8. Lead on project management meetings & technical workshops. 9. Governance reporting and Investment Decision AMS Confidential reporting internally to Senior Management Team. 10.
