Job overview
We are seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU). You will work in the Critical Care Unit at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust which is spread across 2 hospitals.
There is a 34-bed critical care unit admitting over 1300 patients per year at Royal Preston Hospital. This is a mixed unit made up of level 2 & 3 beds. It has a varied case mix including General Medicine, General Surgery, Trauma, Vascular, Renal Neurosciences, Upper-Gastrointestinal and Maxillofacial Surgery. The unit at Preston has accreditation for all stages of Intensive Care Medicine training.
This post will be based at the Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley District General Hospital, and you will be responsible to the Clinical Director in Intensive (Critical) Care.
You will be expected to have experience in Intensive Care and work under distant supervision especially during out of hours shifts.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will be required to take part in regular educational planning sessions and will have an educational supervisor appointed, as well as an annual trust appraisal.
It is essential that the applicant be committed to their own continuing medical education and professional development.

The out of hours duties with this post are to provide cover for the Critical Care facilities across the Trust.

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* MBBS or equivalent
* Minimum 3 years postgraduate training courses completed
* Engaged in medical practice for three out of the last five years including the most recent 12 months.
* IELTS – average score 7.5 (min 7 in each subset) or OET (B score)
* Completed one year’s internship (which can be multi-specialty) or based solely in one specialty.
* Hold ALS / ATLS certification or equivalent
Experience and Skill
* Have a minimum 3 years post foundation Training experience in Anaesthesia/ICM/ Medicine/Emergency medicine with Mandatory 6 months of ICM experience.
* Competent in independent airway Management.
* Independently manage acutely unwell patients in critical care and provide Various organ supports.
* Evidence of commitment to Clinical audit.
* Experience in use of Ultrasound for central line insertion and perform ECHO in critical care.
* Involvement in service improvement projects.
Management
* Evidence of commitment to audit and improving clinical practice/service development.
Research & Development
* Evidence of interest in personal development e.g. through research and/or publications.
* Publications in a peer-reviewed journal.
Health
* Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/ Good Medical Practice.

* Effective communication skills (with examples).
* Proven good organisation skills (with examples).
